I needed to add pictures of my hats so I can put them on my pinterest board. It doesn't work to take them from facebook, lol... :)

A Little Something on Sunday: 10.5 weeks

Still sick... still tired.... soooo ready for the 2nd trimester!
I was very pleased when my Mom told me that Uncle Daryl, Uncle Scott and Auntie Teri all responded well to the pregnancy.  Even Grandma Marie.  I wasn't as worried about her.. but more worried that she'd be worried... but she told my Mom she was very happy.  She also talked to Auntie Teri and she said she seemed surprised, but said, well, she's a good Mom... So that was a compliment for me. :) Uncle Scott said that he might have wanted a larger family if they would have been younger when they started out... that was a huge surprise because he was always the one that wanted me to go to art school and not have too many kids... he seemed disappointed everytime I "put my life on hold" to have another baby.  He did just the opposite, put having kids on hold to have a life.. career, etc... I don't think he regrets it, but it was encouraging to hear that he was at least supportive.  Then Uncle Daryl apparently just said, "cool, cool.." haha.  He never said too many negative things in the past about it, but we knew he didn't totally approve... just a feeling we got.
I've got only positive reactions on facebook and my military and veterans wives board, but a lot of people have said nothing at all.  So, it's possible they don't approve, or maybe they just don't care, or haven't had a chance.
Either way.. it's going well, I think.  I just can't wait to find out if baby is a boy or a girl!
Joshua Mark or Naomi or Evelyn. :)

A Little Something on Sunday: It went so well!!!

I don't know what I was so afraid of, lol...
Tonight was Carols and Cocoa and Katie read that poem. (Danielle got too nervous).  Everyone clapped and cheered and gave us a standing ovation. :) IT was really fun.  A lot of people congratulated us, too... A couple people told us they had a "feeling". :) Christy said she had a dream and that today in church I was "showing" some so she suspected... The couple of people that didn't say anything afterwards.. I *hope* they were just busy and not disappointed....
The rest of the evening went great.  Katie, Danielle, and Johanna all played their piano songs well... Katie and Danielle's Lord of the Rings duet went really well.  Alaina recited verses... SUPER cute.. and then Matthew went up and said a couple too.. hehe... that was ADORABLE! :) :) LOVED it!
Steven did a light saber, Star Wars, show/fight with Katie and Danielle and that was a huge hit... everyone loved that.  Then of course there were carols and comedy.. so much fun.  I love Carols and Cocoa!
So, it went really well and now the news is out.. at least in Omaha.  Hopefully my Christmas cards get to everyone else by tomorrow so they don't find out by facebook, haha.
Well, that's enough for tonight!
OH!!! We also told JOhanna, Alaina and Matthew today for the first time.  J and A were sooo excited and right away Matthew said, "A boy! A brother for me!" Later I talked to him about it, asked him what he thought about Mommy having a baby. HE again said, "it's a brother".  I asked him, "what if it's a sister" HE said, "then I'd be sad, I already have a sister!" Awww... I just hope for his sake he gets his brother.... otherwise I don't really care... if it's a girl I am excited to make booties, knit boots and bloomers! :) :) I might make some bloomers for Elise, anyway... :)
All right.... Good night!

Thursday's Thoughts: Carols and Cocoa

I really need to scan my three little u/s pictures.  You won't see anything, really... but there's definitely a sweet little fat baby bouncing bean in there! So, my appt went well.  Dr Stearnes did a quick u/s and everything looked fine.
We plan to make the official announcement at Carols and Cocoa on Sunday night.  I'll be 9 1/2 weeks so it's definitely earlier than planned, but word is getting out!!! Katie and Danielle will both get up and read a poem.  One Katie wrote and then one that Danielle and I wrote... which is the announcement.  I can't wait to hear/see the reactions....
The poem will also be on the back of our Christmas cards...

"This Christmas year we bring you good news...
Our family is growing by two little shoes.
Not all presents are wrapped in a bow,
but some come with ten fingers, ten toes.
God's gifts are bestowed from Heaven,
Join us and welcome our baby, number seven!"

How cute is that going to be coming from Danielle's little voice!! :) People better be paying attention.. heehee... well either way, if they are not, *someone* will be and it will spread fast I am sure.
Excited for Carols and Cocoa though, the girls have fun piano pieces.  Katie and Danielle are doing a duet as well as their normal Christmas songs.  Even Johanna has a song, her first recital.  Alaina and Matthew are going to recite some memory verses.  We've been working on them.  Total cuteness, I can't wait.

Take on Tuesday: Spotting

The dreaded word: spotting.  I don't know... I think things are going to be okay.  They better be.   Last night I had some reddish brown spotting, then it quickly turned brown.  It's hardly anything at all, but I am still worried. I am 8 wks 5 days... if i miscarry now... ugh, I'd be so sad. :( I am getting ready to head to my u/s here in a few... I'll update when I get back.  I really hope and pray things are okay.
I ordered my Christmas cards, announcing the baby..... I just pray that i have a baby to announce still..

Simply Saturday: more on the pregnancy

Lately I've been feeling less sick.  I mean I have some quesiness and then I have to eat.  Problem is, I have to eat what I am craving.. usually that is not healthy or low in calories.  So, I am already gaining weight.  That is not good considering I didn't start out at a very pleasant weight.  Right now, though, I feel sick.  It's worse than it has been in days.  Yucky!! At least I know that means things are probably going okay.
I am so excited about Becca being pregnant too... :) She said she doesn't really feel like it's real yet though...  She's tired, but she hasn't been too sick.
One cool thing, is Alicia.  She is really responding different to this whole thing than I thought she would. She's really excited. She called me back the other day just to tell me how excited she is.. I told her that I was thinking she wouldn't be so happy.. more like, What in the world are you guys doing??? She said, "no, I know you know what you are doing... and someone else knows what HE is doing..." (meaning God).   So that was cool.. I really needed to hear that and ever since then I have been more excited to tell people.  Makes me want to get my Christmas cards out sooner......

November's Status Updates

November 1, 2011
Life without kids may be "easier" and more restful, but it sure feels empty and meaningless. I am enjoying my day of knitting though. :)

Nov 2
Getting ready to head to the airport... excited to see the kids today.

So... Steven just walked in the door! He changed his flight to be home early to see the kids! :) (he originally was flying in tomorrow because he was in conferences all day today).

Nov 7
Michaels (craft store) is making me mad!!! This week they have a 50% off coupon and what do they do? They mark down ALLLLL their yarn like 25% so I can't use the coupon. Ugh!

Alaina on the phone to Grandma: "We get to go to QT to get slushies....... want to learn how to spell QT? ........ Q---T!" :)

Nov 8
Is it too late to get on the thankfulness bandwagon? I have been encouraged by all the thankful status updates lately. :) It'd be cool if it was done all year around. Anyway, I am thankful for Steven and all our kids. :) I am who I am today because of every one of them!

Nov 9
thankful when my kids play nicely together... :) Today is a pretty good day for that.

listening to Alaina sing "M-O-L-L-Y" to the tune of B-I-N-G-O and laughing at her getting annoyed with Matthew singing, "M-O-apple-Y" :) LOL ((Molly is the name of the dog at her school))

Nov 10
This morning when I walked in my door after dropping the girls off at school, I was greeted by a wonderful smell.... then I remembered.. I had cut an onion this morning and it is still sitting on the counter.. :) Mmmm... I **LOVE** onions!!! Mouth is watering.... :)

Nov 11
Is thankful that Steven has the day off today for Veteran's Day. He deserves it. :)

Nov 12
Started reading the Little House on the Prairie series with the kids a few nights ago! So far so good.. they are all really enjoying it so far. We also got The LIttle House on the Prairie pilot and season 1 disc 1 from netflix... can't wait to watch them!

Today I am thankful for all the little blessings in disguise!

Nov 13
While I am very thankful for weekends... it's nice to have the help with the kids and housework and to get caught up on rest... I am also thankful to get back into the routine of the week (just not the waking up early part!)

Nov 14
Today I am thankful for beautiful fall weather!

Alaina and Elise got their ears pierced today!! Alaina got yellow stones and Elise got diamond.. or cz... :) They are sooo cute! Alaina was brave, didn't even cry... poor Elise did though.. :( As soon as she got a sucker all was good in her little world!

So.. the kids were born in the wrong months if you go by their favorite colors and their birthstones... Johanna (Sept) loves red so she should have been born in July. Danielle (Nov) loves blue so she should have been born in Sept. Alaina (Oct) LOVES yellow so Nov would have been a good month for her... Matthew (July) always picks green.. so May would be a good month for him. Elise (May) doesn't care so... she could have could have the leftover month.. pink, which is Oct. :) Katie is good with her diamond. :) :) Haha...

Let me just say that trampolines and newly pierced ears do NOT mix. :( So.. a year ago when we got Alaina's ears pierced she lost one to the trampoline on the first night... tonight she lost one again... :( I quickly found a replacement earring to keep the hole open, but knew we had to find the original because the one I replaced it with is just a cheapie. Katie and Johanna actually found the earring AND the back on the trampoline... in the dark! WOW... Getting it back in was really hard... lots of screaming. BUt she let me.. she was really brave. Poor little girl and her trouble with earrings... she loves them though...

Nov 15
I am thankful for health! Although I am not feeling well... and neither are the kids, it just reminds me it could be so much worse. Thankful they are all minor illnesses!

Tired... I might go to bed early.... I have had a hard time even knitting lately because I am just pooped... all I want to do is -- NOTHING!! haha!

Nov 17
I am thankful for my kids again.... :-) Today Lisey is being extra cute!

Nov 18
Matthew is in surgery right now getting his brachial cleft cyst on his neck removed. :( Anxious for him to get out. Steven is there with him and I am home with the other kids...

update on Matthew: He is out of surgery, it lasted a little over an hour and they were able to remove the cyst and tract... it didn't go in very far at all and wasn't attached to anything. So, that's good. He needs to stay overnight, though, so they can make sure it drains properly and does not get infected. I will switch places with Steven and stay overnight with him. Looking forward to seeing my little boy.

With Matthew at the hospital. It's good to see him. He cried a little when I first got here but now he's doing fine. He just needed some mama love. :) Thankfully he doesn't seem to be in pain and he's in good spirits!

Nov 20
had a good time at church today! Glad we were there, even if we were there late. :)

Nov 21
Thankful today that my sister is finally in labor after being very overdue! Praying for a healthy delivery for mom and baby!

So... Matthew has been crazy hyper since his surgery. He's more active than normal... wondering if it could be a side effect of the anesthesia? I can't find anything about it online.

Is now a proud Auntie to Vivian Jane! Born this morning, in an ambulance! 9lbs 4oz and 20 inches long! Both Mommy and baby are healthy and resting in the hospital! Congrats, Cody and Amber!

Nov 22
Oh my goodness.... Elise. LOVE her! I could hear her in the livingroom, saying as she runs toward me, "haaaaaa (breath) haaaaaaa (breath) haaaaaaaave THIS?" and she hands me a rice crispy bar. (the "this" is extremely high pitched, lol). This is something that Matthew and Alaina do when they want a snack.. they hide the snack behind their backs while saying "can i haaaave......" and then show it to me and say, 'THIS!' So, she got it from them. So funny coming from an 18 month old, though.

Anyone have any advice on how to keep the dirty cups under control at my house? We go through probably 20+ plus cups a day because of the kids! I try do a one cup a day rule. I've tried disposable cups with names. They have their own 'square' to keep their cup on and every time i turn around there's another cup! It doesn't help that all the kids 3yrs and up can climb on the counter to get another cup. Sigh... I've thought about locking the cupboard or getting rid of all the cups, but then they'd just move on to the glasses.. and those get broken!

Nov 25
Thankful that I am not out on black Friday. I just don't get it? Then again, I really really don't like being around lots of people and I don't like noise, lines (even short ones) really irritate me and I'd imagine the greed would really get under my skin! I am a sucker for good deals though... so that part does tempt me a little bit, haha!

Nov 26
My beautiful, sweet, and totally hilarious Danielle is TEN years old today. Ten. Where have the years gone? Happy Birthday, Danielle Elizabeth Marie!!! We ♥ you!

Nov 29
I was telling Alaina that A is for Apple.... and Matthew says, "NO! It's for........... All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.. Romans 3:23!" He said it with so much enthusiasm too... so sweet and cute!

Alaina and Matthew had dentist appts today... no cavities! Yay!

Elise just might get squeezed really tight... she's being way too darn cute! :)
