Take on Tuesday: Recent Status Updates

I had to look for something on my wall on facebook and was able to read my status updates over the last couple months... There is a lot of good stuff in there.... stuff that one day I bet I'd want to remember!! Stuff I know I'd forget! So, I just wanted to copy and paste some of my favorites. :)

July 1, 2011
Lisey's been a good girl.. the last 3 nights she has slept through the night!! (8:30pm - 5:30 or 6:30am) This is after that one night she was being a little stinker and I decided to not nurse her. We'll see how long this lasts, either way I don't *plan* on nursing her in the middle of the night, anymore.

July 7
Elise slept 12 hrs straight last night!! yay! I am hoping this is it because I am starting to feel more rested lately! The good thing is, it only took one night of *not* nursing her for her to start sleeping better! I am glad I waited til she was ready though... letting her cry for days and days (or nights) was not my idea of a good time.

My kids are funny. Alaina says "lesterday" and Matthew says "mesterday" for Yesterday.

July 9
took Elise into the Dr yesterday. Although her croup is better, she was still running a slight fever and pulling on her ear. She did have an ear infection. :( Little peanut only weighed 18lbs 6oz.. and that was fully dressed w/diaper. haha!

Oh my goodness, Elise LOVES Dora! She'll stop whatever she's doing if she hears it come on and she makes a really intense excited face whiles he watches her and says, "dah, dah, dah" She also says "bah, bah" when backpack comes on. She's so silly.

July 12,
Alaina LOVES puzzles! She does them all day long. For real. She has a spot at a table and she just stands there and does them over and over. She's gotten really good at 100 piece puzzles and she was even finding pieces for us on our 1,000 piece puzzle.

July 14
Steven got called to guard duty to help with the flooding here in Omaha, starting today. He'll be working 2pm-10pm for the next 2-3wks straight. I think it's a pretty cool deal and he's excited about it too!

I was just thinking about it.. I have only emptied and loaded the dishwasher a handful of times this whole summer thanks to my helpful girls. :) All 4 work together to get the job done everyday.

The days of buying only 5 slushies at Sonic are over! Johanna let Elise have a sip of hers and she drank it all the way home and is now sitting her highchair finishing it off.. if anyone goes near her and *thinks* about touching that slushie she lets out an "I mean business" scream! Silly goose...

My head is spinning from everyone trying to talk to me at the same time!!

Matthew really wanted an umbrella for his (3rd) birthday... so it really worked out that it was raining today. :)

It really makes me feel dumb when I have to call my cell phone from my house phone to find it.. and when I do, I get excited that there is one missed call... sigh... I fall for it over and over again...

Prayer Request: Tomorrow Matthew has an appt with the allergist to get a scratch test done... :( I've heard it's extremely uncomfortable, so pray he does okay with that and also pray we figure something out that will actually make a difference.

Elise loves to climb up on the computer desk and then walk across the laptop keyboard... she's already done it twice since I have been on fb and she's going for it again!! Silly goose!

Elise just handed me a slimy chewed up piece of pizza and while she handed it to me she said, "dit-doo" (thank you) in her sweet little voice.. Um.. thanks, but no thanks! LOL It was adorable though..

The case of the missing butter knives... Kelli and I are trying to figure out how every single one of my butter knives has gone missing.. dirty or clean, they are GONE! By process of elimination we have decided that either Johanna or Alaina have to be the guilty ones, but so far no admissions..... very weird to say the least.

As Johanna cleaned the toilet today she sang, "I am so poor... I have to clean toilets.. and scrub and flush poop.... and clean sinks and trash... I am so poor..." LOL (btw, this was not a punishment.. she WANTED to do it.. hahahaha!!)

Matthew keeps calling Lisey a "cootie pie"... I don't think he knows girls have cooties yet, so he must mean "cutie" :) Love him!!

Just spent the evening/night making clothes for Katie and Danielle's dolls. Had to dust off the old sewing machine, but all is good! It was a lot of fun.

Elise is a climber... everytime I walk into the room she is on top of something! I just caught her on top of the desk playing our answering machine messages, lol.. I always find her on the kitchen table eating out off whatever plate got left behind.. when she sees me coming she stuffs as much as she can in her mouth, haha!! Stinker!

Just caught Lisey sticking a toothbrush in the toilet... oh I *hope* she didn't put it in her mouth.... but why wouldn't she? Gross gross gross!!!

Poor Matthew... he just woke up after sleeping for 16 1/2 hours. He's running a fever and that bump on his neck looks bad again. Actually this morning it's doing better, but the last few days it's been awful. We have an appt with the surgeon tomorrow to see if it can be removed....

Whenever Matthew comes to sleep in our room, he brings all his treasured belongings.. his ny-nite, paci, pillow pet, thomas blanket and pillow, his blue car, his Tow-Mater, and his night-light that puts a picture of space on the ceiling (which he calls, heaven, lol).. and he plugs it in, even.. haha... LOVE him!

tonight I starting trying to teach Elise to sit nicely on my lap for Family Bible time.. up until now she'd wander around and play (get into things) and randomly nurse. Just wasn't working well, haha... She did pretty well! She sat on my lap the entire time.. she had a few outbursts but got over it when she realized I wasn't letting her down! It's never too early to start!

took Matthew to the ENT today and he is pretty sure that he has a branchial cleft cyst on his neck... basically it has a tract that is connected to his nasal passages and anytime he gets a cold, ear infection, etc.. it also causes the cyst to become infected. Only cure is surgery, he said the surgery can take anywhere from 45mins to a few hours to remove all of the tract. Not thrilled about this idea... at all. :(

Johanna just pulled out her own tooth!!!

my status today in 2009! "when I asked Danielle what she liked so much more about their new school... she just said, "I don't know.. it's just so much more churchier!"
Haha.. love it!

You know you clean out your kids' ears too much when your baby sees you coming with a Q-tip and she scrunches her shoulders to cover her ears and runs away... also, when you find her with a Q-tip trying to clean out a Barbie's ear... lol... oh that girl of mine... silly goose!

Katie's status..... "Alaina: can i bring my balloon outside? Me: No, unless you want it to float away. April -you know what happens when it floats so high you can't see it? It pops! Alaina: and then it goes to heaven? lol!"

Tonight Elise threw Steven's shoe into the bath with Matthew... she's obsessed with water, at least it was the bath and not the toilet this time... but ew, poor Matthew!

Tonight my family just ate 5lbs of potatoes, a dozen eggs, 7 tortillas, and 4 slices of cheese... and half of them are just babies!! lol

Charity Long's status update.. it warmed my heart! "Highlight of my day: singing songs to Jesus with little Johanna at church. She stood right across from me (I was at the front leading the songs) singing at the top of her lungs. She knew every single lyric and sang with all her heart. She's so special, April 'Jasmer' Maestas!"

Those are just a few of the wonderful memories I have over the month of July and August! :)
I think this is a good "tradition".  Once a month, maybe I'll C&P favorite status'.. just for memories... :)
